{"id":4759,"date":"2023-08-23T12:06:03","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T09:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.uam.md\/?page_id=4759"},"modified":"2026-02-25T10:15:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T07:15:14","slug":"about-the-union-of-lawyers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/about-the-union-of-lawyers\/","title":{"rendered":"Presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Union of Advocates of the Republic of Moldova is the organization established by law to ensure the self-administration of advocates in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On January 1st, 2026, there were 2068 active advocates and 350 trainee advocates in the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Union of Advocates:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>represents and promotes the interests of advocates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organizes the process of training future advocates and their admission to the bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ensures the professional development of advocates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>examines disciplinary complaints and applies sanctions to advocates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The governing bodies of the Union of Advocates are<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-congress\/\" title=\"\">The Congress<\/a>, which convenes annually and is open to all active advocates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-council\/\" title=\"\">The Council of the Union<\/a>, which meets monthly and makes the most important decisions regarding the administration of the Union<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-president\/\" title=\"\">The President of the Union<\/a>, who presides over the Council&#8217;s sittings and represents the Union<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-secretary-general\/\" title=\"\">The Secretary General of the Union<\/a>, who ensures the administration of the Union and leads its secretariat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Within the Union of Advocates, the following autonomous bodies are also functioning:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-licensing-commission\/\" title=\"\">The Licensing Commission<\/a>, which organizes the exam for entering the traineeship and the final Bar exam<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-ethics-and-discipline-commission\/\" title=\"\">The Ethics and Discipline Commission<\/a>, which examines complaints filed against advocates and trainee advocates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/training-of-lawyers\/lawyers-training-center\/\" title=\"\">The Advocates&#8217; Training Center<\/a>, which provides initial training for trainee advocates and continuous training for advocates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Commission of Appeals, which reviews appeals filed by Bar exam participants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/the-audit-commission\/\" title=\"\">The Audit Commission<\/a>, which oversees how the resources of the Union are spent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Based on their residence, all advocates are assigned to territorial bar associations corresponding to the jurisdictions of the courts of appeal. There are four territorial bar associations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/regional-bars\/\" title=\"\">B\u0103l\u021bi<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/regional-bars\/\" title=\"\">Cahul<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/regional-bars\/\" title=\"\">Chi\u0219in\u0103u<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uam.md\/en\/about-us\/governing-bodies\/regional-bars\/\" title=\"\">Comrat<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Union of Advocates of the Republic of Moldova is an associate member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccbe.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Union of Advocates of the Republic of Moldova is the organization established by law to ensure the self-administration of advocates in the country.
