Conference “The profession of advocates in Germany and the Republic of Moldova – current challenges and developments”
On November 9, 2023, the Union of Advocates of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with the German Federal Bar and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS Rule of Law Program South East Europe), organised the Moldovan-German bilateral conference with the theme “The profession of advocates in Germany and the Republic of Moldova – current challenges and developments”.
The conference brought together legal professionals from the Republic of Moldova and Germany, who exchanged information and practices on the following topics:
- The rule of law and the fundamental role of lawyers in Germany and the Republic of Moldova
- The position of lawyers in the justice system
- Confidentiality and respect for professional secrecy in the exercise of professional activity
- Professional secrecy in the era of digitization
- Digitization of the judicial system and digital communication between lawyers and courts
- Online legal proceedings
The conference was opened by Stanislav COPEȚCHI, State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin POPESCU, President of the Union of Lawyers of the Republic of Moldova, Ilona TREIBERT, President of the Bamberg Regional Bar and Pavel USVATOV, Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Rule of Law Program Southeast Europe.
